RYA Youth courses

MAY SCHOOL HOLIDAYS…

Junior/youth training at Shotwick Lake is making a major step forward during the May school holidays. Club youth members will be able to participate in the first RYA youth courses of 2026, led by Shotwick Lake Senior Instructor Jude.

Youth members, age 8 to 18 will be able to participate in RYA stage 1 & 2, beginner sailing courses and also complete the Power Boat level 1 course! 

Course:             Stage 1 and 2 Beginner Youth Dinghy Sailing

Date:                   26th and 27th May (2-day course) 10am-5pm

Cost:                   £100 for first child; £75 for siblings (includes logbook and certificate)

Age:                     8-18 years

This course is for young people as a beginner sailing course. They will need a wetsuit, warm top that can get wet, a wind-proof top and shoes/wet shoes (no crocs) as they will be on the water (weather permitting) for a significant amount of time both days. They will also need to provide their own lunch. Youngsters must be members of the club. Numbers limited to 12 participants.

Course:              Power Boat Level 1

Date:                   28th May (1-day course)

Cost:                   £105 for first child; £80 for siblings (includes certificate)

Age:                     8-18 years

This is an introduction to powerboating with a completion certificate. Yougsters will need appropriate wind-proof clothing, as you will be on the water for a substantial part of the day. They will also need to provide their own lunch. Youngsters must be club members. Numbers limited to 6 participants.

Power Boat Level 2 will follow during Summer Holidays (age 12 and above).
