Racing Sunday 11th October

Well If the fleet thought the wind was light on the 4th, then the mirror-like lake that greeted them on Sunday 11th took it to another level. Great day to be OOD, whispered one helm! The course was set simply using the clubhouse end of the lake, although it was not at all clear if anyone would actually be ble to make the start.
After a short delay the race got underway, with the participants searching desperately to catch a shift or two! The OOD decided photos of the race were not needed and got out their sketch book to capture the action from a deckchair and a strong coffee.
In race two the fleet barely got to the start line on time, really really slow! But with some perseverance a couple of laps were achieved before time was called.
The afternoon saw a handful of boats out on the lake in a drifting competition - and not the hot rod style drifting. A much shorter course was set and I can only describe the wind as even struggling to wheeze at us. The OOD put the fleet out of its misery by shortening the race and we all called it a day.
So let us all hope that we get back to some Shotwick blustery windy weather for next Sunday.
