Frostbite - the winners!
Published 21:54 on 9 Dec 2025
Wow, Christmas is approaching fast and just like that the 2025 Frostbite Series is over. As the boats hit the water last weekend for the final two races the overall winner was already clear, Club Commodore Jeremy Cooper - with five first places under his belt. However it could be said that the event itself was a win for the club. Shotwick Sailing Secretary Simon Dolman summed it up.
What a fantastic series the Frostbite proved to be—made all the better by the great company of our Bala Sailing Club friends along with a welcome visit on the final day from Gordon and Harry Bennell.
A huge thank-you to everyone who helped run the event and a special thanks to Peter Jacobs who helmed the safety boat for all but one day of the series - Thanks Pete! As always, our appreciation goes to Dot for looking after us so well throughout, teas, cakes and bacon butties went down a treat!
With 44 boats competing and representing a wide range of experience from world-championship level to novice club racers it could have been challenging but we saw the perfect blend of competitiveness and consideration on the water - well done everyone!
Lets keep the momentum going - next weeks pursuit race is shaping up to be the best of the year with four Bala boats already booked in alongside top competion from Gordon and Harry!
See you next week and good luck! Sunday sees the final race of 2025, with the Frostbite Pursuit, followed by prize giving and a club social event and buffet.
