The monthly Border Counties Midweek Sailing Series reached Llyn Brenig this week and Shotwick managed to put out 7 boats and 9 sailors. Kieran Lewis, who is currently putting in impressive performances at Shotwick, claimed second spot overall in his RS Aero 7 with a 2nd and 3rd place counting from three races. Next up for Shotwick was Matthew Bennett (Solo) in 7th place. Second double handed dinghy in the final results went to Simon and Julie Dolman (Miracle) who placed 12th, just behind Paul Newman (Streaker) in 11th.Dave Thomas and Shan Stapley (Miracle) placed 3rd doublehander overall in 15th place. Representing the Shotwick Laser fleet, Jim Young, managed an 11th place in race 1, but had to retire from race 2, putting him 26th overall from just the one result.
So a great turnout from Shotwick for an exciting series. It was interesting to note that local knowledge didnt seem to impact the results with visiting sailors taking 17 out of the first 20 places… So why not give the series a go? The next venue is Buworth on Tuesday 2nd September. For more info checkout:

Or have a chat with Dave Thomas - hell probably talk you into it :).
Overall in the series to-date Shotwick sailor Paul Newman (Streaker) is sitting in 4th place, with Simon and Julie Dolman (Miracle) 6th and first doublehander.
