Series final results

Sunday saw the conclusion of both the Spring Series and the Spring Handicap Series.

The day started as a wonderful sunny day, with 18 racers taking to the water. As the day progressed the weather became capricious and very blustery which soon turned the day into madness, according to Sara B, with Dave T coining the phrase Cirque de Simon, as Simon and Julie got caught in a mad squall while flying their spinnaker. There were arms and legs everywhere!

This was the second very busy day for the safety boat, who also had a very busy day on Saturday covering the RYA Youth event (more in a later post), and Mark Nield and Sara B were ready for a welcoming drink at the end of the weekend.

So how did the Spring Series conclude? First let us hear from Racing Secretary Simon Dolman. Im just about to do the end of series results, but before I do… what a great series it has been. It has been fantastic to sail with you guys! Big, big thanks to everyone who gives up their time, and time on the water, to make these events possible. A special well done to the newbies who have done themselves proud. Great to have you all sailing with us. See you next Wednesday.

Spring Series - race 13

1. Kieran Lewis (Aero 7), 2. Simon and Julie Dolman (Miracle), 3. Gordon Bennell (Solo)

Corrected times, 1st to 2nd 18 secs, 2nd to 3rd, 8 secs, and Harry Bennell, arriving in 4th place only 7 secs behind Gordon, which probably got a few helms a bit worried as they started race 14. And that feeling was justified as Harry took first place.

Spring Series - race 14

1. Harry Bennell (Tera Pro), 2. Kieran Lewis (Aero 7), 3. Gordon Bennell (Solo)

And Harry had time to get back to the clubhouse for a warm drink, winning by almost 5 minutes (corrected time)

So how does that leave the overall Series results.

Spring Series final results (14 races completed)

1. Matthew Bennett (Solo) 24.8 pts, 2. Simon and Julie Dolman (Miracle) 26pts, 3. Jeremy Cooper (Lightning) 31.5pts

Congratulations Matthew Bennett, Spring Series 2025 winner, and the first series win in his new boat.

Spring Handicap - race 7

1. Kieran Lewis (Aero 7), 2. Gaz Henshall and Julie Dolman (Miracle), 3. Chris Draper (Topper)

Spring Handicap final results (7 races completed)

1. Gaz Henshall and Julie Dolman (Miracle), 2. Chris Draper (Topper), 3. Mark Nield (Laser)
