April Regatta
Published 20:24 on 26 Apr 2026
This Sunday marked the first of six in our regatta series.
On each day three races are scheduled: two back-to-back in the morning, followed by one in the afternoon — a format thats both exciting and challenging.
Here is where the challenge comes in. Morning-only sailors (often some of the top seeds) will not have a discard, meaning every result counts — unless they decide to stay on for the afternoon race (which will be started as quickly as possible ). For those racing all day, you will have the advantage of three races with your best two to count, giving you a discard and a bit more flexibility to push hard. So grab a bacon bap (Dot will sort you one out!), fuel up and shine!
The Series award will be presented on the final regatta day, 20th September.
The April regatta was held in superb sailing conditions and Streaker racer Phil Watson, rapidly becoming the helm to beat, scored a hat trick, winning all three races.
Behind Phil each race had a series of different helms and classes slotting in to the chasing positions, each pushing Phil hard, but not managing to best him throughout the day! It was good to see some new racers hitting the lake for the first time this year. Welcome…
Today was only the first of six regatta days, one each month, so put them in your diary and see if you can knock Phil off top spot! The next Regatta day is on Sunday 24th May.
