A great start to 2026

The largest workparty in recent times, at well over 30 members, gathered at Shotwick Lake on Saturday 24th January. Les Perry was ready with a challenging list of jobs, and secretary Vicki was ready with hot soup at half-time. While an on-the-water team worked in very gusty conditions to install the racing marks under Dougs eagle eye, members worked across all areas of the lake as well as the access road. The best work party ever! Commented Les.
Branches encroaching on the access road were removed, the road was cleared of overgrowth and several potholes were filled. The growing number of new members means that priority was also given to removing disused boats, cutting back undergrowth and creating twelve new berths, complete with concrete tie-downs. Each new berth then received a hand-crafted ID sign.

The regular monthly work parties are a great way of maintaining the Club infrastructure in tiptop condition, and of course also helps to keep the Club fees at a manageable level. Les is always looking for members with special skills to help tackle specific projects. Simply contact Les or speak to a member of the committee when you are next down at the Lake to share your hidden talents and see where they might fit!
