A Busy Saturday

Published 21:43 on 14 Jun 2026

Another successful work party was held on Saturday morning (13th June). But that was not all that was happening at Shotwick Lake yesterday. The current RYA level 1/2 course members were also out on the lake under the expert eye of senior instructor Chris Snow and his team. The weather was a challenge with high winds and impressive gusts, but that didnt stop the course members using the newly donated RS Vision for some impressive capsize practice!

Recent series winner, Ian Duncan, assistant instructor took the opportunity to take out course members in the club Bosun dinghy.  You can see more photos and videos of the day on the Shotwick Lake Sailing Facebook page. Clearly lots of fun was had!

The high winds also meant that the afternoon junior accompanied sailing event was cancelled, but that did not stop senior instructor Jude doing some informal water safety familiarisation with some of our club youngsters. Shotwick Lake Sailing has just been accepted to run the RYA Swim Safe with Onboard programme - more information about the programme, including course dates, will be out soon.

And another learn about the club session was held by Karen for new members!
