Tired of dealing with weeds!

When everything was going great, there is nothing more frustrating than realising after a sensation of the ‘go slows’ and making all manner of adjustments to improve speed that you have the dreaded green stringy stuff hanging off your rudder. Nowadays we all check for weed as our first action as it has become more common.

So, what are we doing about it? Have no fear, Jeremy and his crew are here!!

Jeremy with Ian and Sara

Jeremy has enlisted the assistance of club members Ian and Sara (others on occasion), most Sunday mornings to rake the bottom of the lake at the west end hoping to stunt weed growth. Later in the year we will compare this with the help of a local diving club with the un-raked south side near buoys 9 and X to measure success.

Jeremy – chief raker
Better out than on one’s rudder!

Many thanks to Jeremy, Sara, Ian and everyone who has contributed to this effort – it is very much appreciated!

Many hands make light work, more help is always needed (in addition to working parties)

Many thanks to all who have helped at previous working parties – next one is Saturday 1st July

If you would like to help with this project or get more involved with non-racing club tasks, we would love to hear from you!
