RYA Power Boat Level 2 (PB2)
This two-day course provides the skills and background knowledge needed to drive a powerboat. Due to the limited places available the course is only open to club members.
Unfortunately we have decided that we will not run any learn to sail courses this year (2021) due to the continued advice from RYA Wales not to have showers operational and Welsh Government requirements for face coverings in internal public spaces. Although these restrictions are less of an impact in the current warmer weather this can not be guaranteed and we want all sailors and our volunteer instructors to enjoy the sessions that are run at the club.
The course includes pre-start checks, launching and recovery, close quarters handling, high speed manoeuvres, man overboard recovery and collision regulations.
If you would like to know more about our Powerboat L2 please email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Additional training is also provided at the club including the recovery of dinghies, the racing ‘traffic light system’, and action to be taken following typical scanarios during dinghy racing. In order to provide safety cover at dinghy racing power, boat helms are required to attend a three hour refresher every two years.
The course content of the three hour powerboat refresher is here.
The typical scenarios during dinghy racing are listed here.
