Local Lockdown – Racing Suspended

Suspension of Racing

Dear Member,

The Welsh Government has announced the first local lockdown in the north of Wales in Wrexham, Denbighshire, Flintshire and Conwy.

The new measures came into force at 6pm on Thursday 1 October, to protect people’s health and control the spread of the virus in the four areas.

One of new restrictions will mean people are not allowed to enter or leave each of the above areas without a reasonable excuse, such as travel for work or education.

We have decided, since many of our sailors / safety boat crews are located outside Flintshire to suspend the organised activity of Sunday Racing with immediate effect. The Club will remain open for recreational sailing (subject to compliance with Welsh Government requirements such as social distancing, households meeting etc and the Sailing Club Requirements on the use of the facility). Members will need to consider this recent Welsh Government Restriction on entry into Flintshire from other areas before making a decision to visit the club.

We are all disappointed that we have had to take these steps and hope we can reinstate organised sailing as soon as we are able.

Stay safe.
Kind Regards
Tim Bowden
Commodore Shotwick Lake Sailing.
