End Of Season Dinner Including
Awards Ceremony.
Saturday 14th November at The Armoury, Halkyn Street Flint.
19.00 prompt (for dinner at 19.30) to Midnight (bar until 11.30)
Four course dinner, presentation of award a fun quiz and music for all tastes.
This is the premier social function of the year and we hope to
see you all there with your friends and family.
Tickets strictly limited so book early to avoid
disappointment. Available now from the Galley on Sunday mornings
or by telephone or
email from Ron King (details on your
membership card or the website). Tickets only £15 (£10 for
juniors).
Last ticket sales strictly Tuesday 10th November 2009.

Pick Your Own Duties |
An
empty Duty Roster
will soon be available
in the Clubhouse. Members
should
fill in their own preferred dates for
next
season. This list remains posted until the Roster is finalised in
April. The Duty Secretary then fills in the empty dates by working
through the list of members in alphabetic order on a continuous
basis.

Work Party

WORK PARTY
There is a work party on Saturday 17th October. This is
mainly a large scale tidy up with some grass cutting and
perhaps staining and painting if the weather is suitable.
This is the last work party of the season, and the support
of members
is needed to
help to maintain Shotwick Lake
Sailing as the best venue for our activities.
The club depends on members to undertake minor maintenance
tasks at the club.

Shotwick Lake Annual Lakeside Barbeque
On Saturday 5th September 2009.
Includes BBQ food and music for all tastes.
Tickets at £5 are available from the Galley on Sunday mornings or Ron King.
Bring your own drinks (and chairs if possible) and warm clothing!
Get your tickets early to avoid disappointment.
Last ticket sales strictly Wednesday 2nd Spetember to enable catering numbers to be finalised!

Open Day
this year on Saturday 6th June.

It will be an
opportunity for non-members to have a try at sailing and
windsurfing. Just bring some
clothes and trainers that you can get wet. Changing
rooms and showers are available. |

2009 Work Parties |
WORK PARTIES
Thank you to all the volunteers who turned up to help on
Saturday 28th Feb. A lot of work was completed and I'm sure all
members will appreciate your efforts.
Most obviously, we have a greatly improved launching area, and a
new
weather station, and members were hard at work completing
many other jobs that we all take for granted - so thank you all!

Student Success in Cherbourg
|
University J80 Keelboat European Champions
Shotwick Lake Sailing member James Hopson and crew won the
University J80 Keelboat European Championship title in
Cherbourg last week. This is the first time that a British
team have won the title.
It was down to the last race, and the French were beaten for
the first time in five years. Other British teams were 11th
and 13th.

Challenge Award |
Phil McCaffery Branch Manager at Rybrook Volvo Chester and junior
sailors Ben, Erin and Megan from Shotwick Lake Sailing accepted the
Volvo Eco Challenge Award on behalf of the club for the development
of a rainwater harvesting system to reduce the amount of mains water
used to rinse off boats |

Unfortunately this
course has been cancelled following two people dropping out and
being unable to find replacements.
Please accept our apologies for this matter which is
beyond our control.

Duty Rota |
Members are being
encouraged to choose their preferred dates for the 2009 Dinghy
Racing Duty Rota. The blank duty rota chart is on the notice board
in the clubhouse. Please put your name against three duties,
otherwise duties will be allocated for you.
Please remember
that if you cannot attend the assigned duty it is your
responsibility to find a replacement!
