2009 Open Day

Shotwick Lake Open Day

Following the overwhelming success of previous years, we are holding our third annual Open Day this year on Saturday 6th June.


It will be an opportunity for non-members to have a try at sailing and windsurfing. Just bring some clothes and trainers that you can get wet. Changing rooms and showers are available.

Web Cam

Check out the new online Web Cam!

We have a web cam set up so that you can keep an eye on things happening at the club from the comfort of your own home or while at work!
The web cam is connected to the weather station and can be viewed from that page too.

We now have a weather station set up so that you can check the local weather at the lake before you leave home!

This weather station is now also used by race officers to select a suitable course from the new book of race courses.

2009 Work Parties

WORK PARTIES
 
Thank you to all the volunteers who turned up to help on Saturday 28th Feb. A lot of work was completed and I'm sure all members will appreciate your efforts.
Most obviously, we have a greatly improved launching area, and a new weather station, and members were hard at work completing many other jobs that we all take for granted - so thank you all!

The club depends upon volunteers to undertake minor maintenance tasks at the club work parties are therefore arranged from 09.30 to 13.30 on the following dates:

Please make every effort to attend at least two sessions.

Student Success in Cherbourg

University J80 Keelboat European Champions

Shotwick Lake Sailing member James Hopson and crew won the University J80 Keelboat European Championship title in Cherbourg last week. This is the first time that a British team have won the title.
It was down to the last race, and the French were beaten for the first time in five years. Other British teams were 11th and 13th.
 

First Race 15th Mar

Come and take part in the first race of the 2009 season on 15th March.

First race starts at 10:30am.

Volvo Eco Challenge Award

Phil McCaffery Branch Manager at Rybrook Volvo Chester and junior sailors Ben, Erin and Megan from Shotwick Lake Sailing accepted the Volvo Eco Challenge Award on behalf of the club for the development of a rainwater harvesting system to reduce the amount of mains water used to rinse off boats

RYA Powerboat level 2

Course Cancelled:

Unfortunately this course has been cancelled following two people dropping out and being unable to find replacements.
 
Please accept our apologies for this matter which is beyond our control.

Duty Rota

Members are being encouraged to choose their preferred dates for the 2009 Dinghy Racing Duty Rota. The blank duty rota chart is on the notice board in the clubhouse. Please put your name against three duties, otherwise duties will be allocated for you.

Please remember that if you cannot attend the assigned duty it is your responsibility to find a replacement!
