Hello! I have been a windsurfing member at Shotwick Lake since 2010, having just moved to Chester from Cumbria in January of that year. I previously sailed and windsurfed on Ullswater, and worked as a volunteer instructor at Windermere (Lakes Leisure). I started windsurfing in my mid-twenties and became an instructor on my 30th birthday! - having trained at Loch Ken in the Scottish Borders. Having worked as a volunteer instructor at Loch Ken, in Cornwall and on Windermere I did the RYA Senior Instructor course at Salford Watersports in 2008, and became an Intermediate Non-Planing Instructor at Coverack in Cornwall in 2009. I really enjoy both windsurfing and teaching at Shotwick Lake (and, confession time, sailing our dinghy - yes, I do dabble in seated sailing too!) - the convenient location, the clean winds from the Dee estuary, the views over towards the Welsh and Wirral hills, and the friendly atmosphere. I wish I was a windsurfing 'hot-shot', but guess I never will be! - but would love to see more windsurfers coming together at the Club to enjoy sharing their love for the sport! I sit on the Board of the Club as Windsurfing Secretary and would be very happy to hear from anyone who has any thoughts or ideas for the development of Windsurfing at Shotwick. Thanks!
